Senator Yussuf Haji of Garissa County has been out of public domain for a while now, leaving the electorate with dozens of questions as to whether he is opting out of politics or silence is his next campaign strategy.
Though keeping a low profile has been a norm for Haji, latest political activities from other regional politicians and aspirants alike, have raised many concerns if the senator will defend his current space or not.
However, his silence can be justified given the fact that not many aspirants have expressed interest in his present position.
To date, only a single aspirant has publicly declared interest in Haji's seat that analysts disclose is reserved.
Aden Sugow is the only aspirant who has indicated intent to face off with Haji in the Garissa senatorial race.
With this single competitor, it could be true that Haji is unperturbed since he trounced several big politicians in the 2013 elections.
Interestingly, the incumbent senator is seemingly enjoying good political relationship with regional politicians both from the opposition and the ruling Jubilee party alike.
Unlike other politicians, the senator has not received many open criticisms directed to his governance and this could be the reason why his silence has become handy.
