Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to toss in jail his family members named in Sh5 billion Ministry of Health scandal.
Speaking at the ODM National Governing Council meeting at Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi, Raila told Kenyatta to borrow a leaf from Rwanda President Paul Kagame and order the arrest and prosecution of those named in the scandals.
“Kagame went to the extent of arrested his own brother over corruption; and whenever he visited him in jail, he reminded him that what he had done was criminal. That is what Uhuru should also do,” said Raila.
The Cord co-principal also claimed that all state departments were affected by the rot and called for action on the alleged loss of Sh5 billion at Afya House, rubbishing assertions that the government was investigating the allegations.
“There is a report by the internal auditor that was clearly prepared after those involved were questioned and gave unsatisfactory answers. What then are they still investigating?” asked the opposition leader.
According to the internal audit report, Sandales International Ltd, which was paid Sh41 million has Kathleen Kihanya, Nyokabi Muthama and Samson Kamiri as directors. Kihanya is a cousin of President Kenyatta while Nyokabi is the President's younger sister.
But Kihanya, the Sandales International Managing Director, said they have done a clean business and there are documents to prove that.
