The National Super Alliance (NASA) is determined to campaign for former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim as he seeks to eject Garissa Township MP Aden Duale from Parliament.
Siaya Senator James Orengo on Thursday said Maalim is Duale’s ‘medicine’ and come August 8, the Parliament Majority leader will be neutralised at the ballot.
Maalim last week was directly nominated by the Wiper party- a NASA-affiliate party to take on Duale during the fourth coming polls.
Speaking at Uhuru Park Nairobi during the unveiling of the NASA presidential lineup Orengo said all the arsenal had been assembled in readiness for the Garissa Township battle.
“Farah Maalim is Duale’s medicine,” he said amid applause.
“He (Duale) has been making noise telling lies of how Jubilee is a performing government. We want to tell him that his days are limited. The countdown has begun.”
However, when Maalim addressed the crowd, he steered of personal attacks against Duale- his main challenger in the parliamentary contest.
He told Kenyans to remain united ahead of the August election.
Maalim said the only way NASA can defeat Jubilee is by the principals as well as supporters remaining united and coming out in large numbers to vote for NASA when August comes.
Maalim and Duale have been engaging in a social media smear campaign with Maalim at one point accusing Duale of planning to evict non-Somalis in Garissa Township.
He claimed Duale felt threatened by the presence of the non-Somalis who support the opposition.
Duale is on record telling Maalim he would trounce him to retain his seat.
