Multiple sources in the National Super Alliance indicate that a committee chaired by Siaya senator James Orengo has identified opposition leader Raila Odinga as the suitable candidate to face President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Recently, the opposition outfit has been going through turbulent times with reports indicating co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka could bolt out if he is not declared flag bearer.

And the National Coordinating Committee is due to submit final report to the NASA principals, who will subsequently retreat to discuss its findings.

“They have finalized the report and found Odinga as the suitable candidate to face Jubilee in August,” said a source who spoke in confidence because of the sensitivity of the matter.

The source added: Odinga has structures and resources to sustain a campaign. Those are key issues that guided them to arrive the decision.”

In their Wajir meeting on Saturday, Odinga, Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula dismissed claims that the alliance would disintegrate.

“We are in Nasa to stay. May be our supporters abandon us,” said Musyoka, who recently backed National Assembly Minority Leader Francis Nyenze, who had threatened that Wiper would bolt out of the opposition.

On Sunday, Wetangula who had toured Gusii region accused Jubilee of propagating propaganda against the NASA coalition.
