Speaking in Siaya County on Saturday where he attended a funeral of a relative, Raila attacked the government over what he termed as ‘illegal’ deployment of officers.

He insisted that there will be no election on October 26, and asked his supporters not to turn up for the exercise.

“We have heard that the government has sent a large army to Nyanza, I want to tell them that Nyanza is part of Kenya as well,” he said

He was accompanied by the region’s leaders, including Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, James Orengo and governor Rasanga.

They all spoke in one language, saying they will not go to the polls without reforms, and urged their people not to be cowed.

Orengo further dares the government to sue Odinga at the ICC, saying they are ready to tackle the case, and sue the government.

The country is preparing for next week’s polls, with many saying the current political environment is not fit for such an exercise.

However, the government has insisted that the exercise will go on as planned, with the first batch of ballot papers arriving in the country on Saturday evening.
