Senior Counsel James Orengo says Attorney General Githu Muigai needs to go back to library and familiarize with the new constitution to avoid ‘misleading’ Kenyans.
Last week, Muigai dismissed claims that the country will be in a constitutional crisis should IEBC fail to hold elections within 60 days upon conclusion of Supreme Court ruling.
But the Siaya senator says there will be a lacuna which will necessitate creation of a transitional government for a period of two months.
“I want Githu to go back to library and do more research. It is quite embarrassing that a holder to such office can mislead Kenyans,” he said.
“Uhuru Kenyatta will cease being president if elections are not held within 60 days and that will necessitate a transitional government which he will not be part of,” he added.
Supreme Court nullified election of President Kenyatta thus subjecting Kenyans to another presidential election that is due October 26th.
Opposition NASA has issued tough conditions among them ejection of key IEBC officials before engaging in any repeat poll.
