James Orengo describes relationship between former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos senator Johnstone Muthama as ‘cordial’, dismissing speculations that the two were embroiled in supremacy battles.
On Sunday, Kalonzo issued an ultimatum to NASA leader Raila Odinga by challenging him to choose whom of the two to work with.
While Musyoka will be Odinga’s running mate, Muthama, who seats in NASA steering committee, is among those trusted in making decisions for the opposition team.
“There is nothing to worry. Their relationship is cordial and I assure you,” said Orengo, who is a force behind formation of the opposition coalition.
He added: “It is just propaganda being spread by our opponents. Kalonzo is our leader and we keenly follow instructions from him.”
Recently, Muthama, a former ally of Kalonzo accused his party leader of favors in party primaries and threatened to quit the party.
Although he’s yet to announce whether he will defend his seat in August, Muthama has previously maintained that he will focus on campaigning for Odinga.
