Senator James Orengo on Thursday hit at President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, labeling them ‘hypocrites,’ following their support on the controversial amendments of the election laws.
Orengo also alleged that the two were victims of unconstitutional laws previously and even sort his legal assistance.
In his submission before the Senate, Orengo narrated how he defended KANU, then under the two in court over ‘illegal’ pouching of its members by retired President Mwai Kibaki to cabinet.
“The President and his Deputy are hypocrites. They are hiding in draconian laws yet they were victims sometimes back in 2005,” Orengo said.
“I represented them when they were crying foul that Kibaki had pouched KANU members to his cabinet against the law and I managed to win on their behalf. They should wake up and desist from imposing Kenyans unacceptable laws,” he added.
Orengo’s opposition team lost their bid to block the controversial amendments which will allow electoral body to use manual voting system should the electronic one fail.
