Jubilee Party presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta has become hysterical over the looming defeat in the forthcoming general elections, ODM Senator has said.

Speaking at Mtwapa grounds in Kilifi County on Sunday, Siaya Senator James Orengo said Jubilee leaders have sensed defeat at the hands of National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga and that is why they have resulted to attacking independent institutions and intimidating them.

“If you want to know a leader has panicked, listen to what Uhuru said this morning (Sunday) by trying to intimidate the courts,” Orengo said.

During a Jubilee campaign rally in Baringo County over the weekend, the President warned the Judiciary not to aid the opposition to scuttle the election process saying the outcome of the August 8 general election will be decided by the people and not the courts.

“We have respected you for too long but do not take our silence as cowardice. We will not allow our competitors to use the courts to intimidate the IEBC,” said Uhuru.

Orengo told the Executive to observe the doctrine of separation of powers and cautioned the Jubilee leaders against trying to arm-twist the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the Judiciary.

“Uhuru should know he is not above the law to attack and intimidate independent institutions just because they are not favouring him in their work,” he said.

Orengo represented the opposition alliance, NASA, in the case where the High Court nullified the tender given by the IEBC to a Dubai-based printing firm Al-Ghurair to print presidential ballot papers.
