Speaker Justin Muturi summoned MPs for Thursday’s session to discuss amendment of election laws after Tuesday’s ugly scenes in which opposition MPs successfully blocked the house from debating.

Speaking to KTN news on Wednesday, Orengo termed the sitting ‘unconstitutional’ adding that the matter was not urgent since the law had been passed.

“I have moved to court on certificate of urgency and I am sure the judge will illegalize the sitting. I have been in parliament for long and never seen such desperate attempts,” he said.

“The law requires that a piece of legislation is only recommitted to parliament after the six months period elapses which is not the case here,” observed Orengo.

MPs allied to government are determined to have the law changed to pave way for an alternative voting method should the preferred electronic method fail.
