Siaya Senator James Orengo has revealed how self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general Miguna Miguna will benefit from the deal between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Tuesday during Citizen TV’s Big Question show, Orengo said Miguna’s return to the country was one of the issues discussed during the Harambee House meeting between Raila and Uhuru.
Orengo further disclosed that he was fully engaged in the plans to facilitate Miguna’s return to the country.
"Miguna’s return is part of the conditions of the Uhuru-Raila deal. In fact, on Friday I am going to see the Kenya National Human Rights Commission (KNHRC) because they were directed by the court to make sure that facilities are created for Miguna’s entry into the country," said Orengo.
Miguna was deported to Canada over his involvement in the swearing-in of Raila as the people’s president on January 30.
The vocal lawyer was arrested two days after the controversial oath ceremony and detained for five days before he was deported to Canada.
His deportation was however revoked and the government ordered to facilitate his return to the country.
Miguna, who is currently on a global tour to popularise NRM, is expected back in the country on March 26, 2018.
