Siaya Senator James Orengo has hit at the Jubilee administration for allegedly using government institutions to wedge a political war against Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
Addressing a group of Joho's supporters on Wednesday shortly after recording a statement over his alleged forged academic credentials, Orengo who had accompanied the Governor to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations office in Mombasa as his lead Counsel said the government is on a political witch-hunt against Joho for his unwavering support to ODM leader Raila Odinga and for denying Jubilee Party entry into the Coast region.Questioning the timing of the allegations against Joho, Orengo claimed that the government wanted to use the fake certificates saga to distract the attention of the people from the ODM Tononoka rally on Sunday.Orengo exuded confidence that the Governor's ongoing woes will be a thing of the past even as he assured the supporters that they will do everything as a party to ensure Joho is on the ballot come August. On his part, Mvita MP Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir who is one of Joho's trusted allies, cautioned the government against 'misusing' public institutions to settle political scores.
