Siaya Senator and minority leader of the Senate Assembly James Orengo has backed the meeting that took place on Friday 9 March at the Harambee House between NASA leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss matters pertaining peace and unity in the country.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Senator Orengo said it was proper that Uhuru and Raila met without the the other principals citing that they will be included in other future talks.
"At this early stages, I think it is right and proper that Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga met. In later talks, other principals will be included," Orengo said.
The NASA senior counsel went ahead to mention that the meeting was effective having only the two political bug dogs sit down to talk as opposed to many people which he said would only confuse the project.
He urged the other co-proncipals to wait for future meetings in which they shall be featured.
"At the moment, I think many people being at the table for talks will confuse the project. Let the two leaders meet, then the rest will come in later," he added.
Senator Orengo was on Tuesday 20 March declared the Senate Majority leader after NASA MPs overwhelmingly voted out Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula from the position
