Siaya Senator James Orengo has sued Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and immigration director Gordon Kihalangwa over the suspension of his passport.
Orengo, Businessman Jimi Wanjigi, Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and NASA strategist David Ndii’s passports were suspended following their involvement in the swearing in of Raila Odinga on January 30 as the people’s president.
Others are NASA chief executive Norman Magaya and former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama.
They all want the revoking of their passports declared illegal.
The government had termed the oath-taking as illegal.
Lawyer Miguna Miguna, who administered the oath taken by Odinga had been deported to Canada.
The High Court, however, declared his deportation illegal last week.
The government had said it will appeal the ruling, arguing that Miguna’s deportation was “in the best interest of the country”.
