Minority leader of the Senate James Orengo has said that the opposition is going to name the cartels involved in importing contraband sugar if nothing is done.
Speaking during Senate debate on the illegal importation, Orengo stated that they will name everybody involved in the importation regardless of their status and influence.
“There is going to be a time we are going to join senator Kabaka in naming names. These are still early days but if nothing happens we are going to name names. If anybody under the sun is responsible for any illegal activity whether he is president of the Republic of Kenya we should be able to put him to account,” said the Siaya Senator.
This comes after Machakos Senator Boniface Wambua Kabaka accused president Uhuru Kenyatta of being involved in the illegal importation of contraband sugar. The accusations led to a state of unrest with Jubilee senators demanding for an apology or proof from the senator.
However, Senator Orengo defended Wambua and urged Jubilee senators not to go back to the old days of panic.
"I am seeing something happening in Jubilee which I used to see in the old days that as soon as you mention the name president, people begin to get into a state of panic. The only one person who is not under the constitution and who is not answerable to the constitution is the Almighty God. But everybody is under the constitution," said Orengo.
