Matiba, 86, will be cremated on Friday after two subsequent funaral services that were held in Nairobi and Murang'a respectively.

In his thunderbolt tribute, Orengo, a comrade in struggle with Matiba, also recommended hash punishments to those who tortured him.

"We have caused this family invisible pain for 30 years now.  Apparently, those who tortured him are alive.

"The most honest thing they can do is to apologize to the family or we face them perpendicularly. I at least know one of them," he said in a indirect reference to retired President Daniel Moi.

Despite serving in Moi's government, Matiba would pay ultimate price in 90s when Moi turned against him by detaining him in various holding cells.

Early this week,  Moi's son,  Gideon Moi, visisted the family and conveyed condolences of his father,  who he argued that called him six times to ensure he visited.

The senior Moi, whose regime was marred with political detentions,  is confined to wheel chair due to old age.
