Mr Ruto and Mr Odinga have occasionally been engaged in bitter verbal exchanges in different platforms, with the former accusing the latter of destabilising the government through politics of rhetoric.

On Sunday, a host of Cord legislators led by Siaya Senator James Orengo urged Raila to desist from responding to Ruto, and instead leave him to them to handle him.

“The Prime Minister should desist from engaging a political featherweight like William Ruto. It is a waste of time because we have important things to do. I sometimes wonder why he is always bitter with Mr Odinga. Responding to him is like belittling yourself,” advised Mr Orengo.

“Engaging someone who represents dark history in this country is a waste of time. Time has come for Raila to keep mum when Ruto attacks us so that we do the job. He doesn’t belong to a class of anyone of us and we can handle him at a lower level,” added Mr Johnstone Muthama.

Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire termed the DP a ‘lost sheep’, and claimed he will be sent to his political oblivion after the 2017 polls.

“He was one time one of us but made some political mistake. Ruto is a lost sheep that is bitter with us for nothing though I am sure he will be sent to a political grave in 2017. Let us handle him whenever he speaks ill of the opposition and not you (Raila),” said Bosire who is the ODM national treasurer.
