Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called upon Siaya Senator James Orengo to save the opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA) from a pending collapse.
In a press conference in Nairobi Tuesday, moments after the Senator was elected new Senate Minority Leader to replace his Bungoma counterpart Moses Wetangula, Musyoka observed that the change could further weaken the alliance.
He noted that the Ford-Kenya party leader's ouster is likely to soon lead to the collapse of the coalition, saying that Orengo is the one who currently holds the key to its future, therefore, urging him to reject the post.
"Orengo should prevent himself from going down in history as the man who led to the collapse of the once strong NASA alliance. He should salvage the coalition by turning down the offer," said the immediate former Vice President.
Similar comments came from the Amani National Congress (ANC) quarters, with the party boss Musalia Mudavadi saying that Orengo's assumption of the post will result to political greed.
He added that the party is closely watching the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) which engineered the changes, with regards to its recent attitude towards its NASA affiliates.
"Taking up the post from Wetangula's will translate to political greed," said Mudavadi in a separate press address.
Orengo will be deputized by his Kakamega counterpart Cleopa Malala of ANC.
