Last month, the two political protagonists reconciled under unclear circumstances with sources hinting that they are keen to build their legacy.

While refuting claims that he is keen to see the unity pact fail, the Siaya senator however says Raila should be weary of his 'enemies' working overnight to bring him down using the deal.

"All of us support the handshake between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga but a lot of enemies were not in support of the deal.

"Raila should be careful because his enemies are not sleeping. They are doing all they can to bring him to his knees," he said on Sunday at a function in Kisumu.

Even within the ODM ranks, a section of party stalwarts have accused Orengo of opposing silently the pact because he was not involved contrary to expectations of many.

In fact, the firebrand senator had threatened to have the deal cancelled arguing that it would erode Raila's reform credentials because of Jubilee's disregard to the rule of law.

"We may be forced to review the deal. We cannot allow them to erode Raila's reform credentials just because he signed a deal," he had warned.
