Siaya Senator James Orengo has asked Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko to order investigations into the “bungled” August elections.

The senator asked Mr Tobiko to establish the roles played by various leaders in the August 8 polls.

Mr Orengo said revelations from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) showed top Jubilee leaders were involved in election malpractices and should be prosecuted.

He was speaking in Homa Bay County on Saturday.

Kisumu governor Anyang Nyong’o called for the disbandment of the IEBC secretariat ahead of the repeat polls on October 17.

The presidential poll results were nullified by the Supreme Court, which stated that IEBC did not conduct the election according to the Constitution and the Elections Act.

Orengo was Nasa’s lead lawyer in the petition.
