Lawyer James Orengo demands that police restrain from using excessive forces on opposition supporters or their leaders ‘explore’ other self defense mechanisms.
He further accuses Jubilee administration of igniting a possible civil war in the country by failing to instill discipline on police force.
“I want to condemn excessive forces used by the police to restrain innocent protesters. This is unacceptable and uncalled for in a democratic nation,” he said, in reference to killing of three demonstrators in Bondo on Friday.
The Siaya senator added: “If the government cannot defend people from such killings, we are not going to sit back and watch our people being killed. We shall defend ourselves.”
He warned that the country could go to ‘Biafra and Kosovo’ way if the police failed to uphold the rule of law.
Orengo’s warning comes at the time former advisor to Raila Odinga; Miguna Miguna challenged NASA supporters to arm themselves against the police.
“Stop running, arm yourself, stand the ground and fight back,” he wrote in his official twitter account.
