Having served in the corridors of justice for over four decades, lawyer James Orengo may after all retire soon from a career that has earned him international repute.
With the presidential case filed by Raila Odinga being the major landmark case he has handled, the Friday’s ruling could as well be a culmination of his legal career.
The former SONU leader graduated in 1974 and joined politics six years later, where he was elected MP for Ugenya constituency.
And with a fabulous outing in 2017 after winning a number of landmark cases, Supreme Court ruling if at all goes in his way, will only add to numerous clandestine cases he has won.
But it is his pro bono services that may be missed when handling political cases that touches his allies which would be missed most.
Being an ODM legislator, the emergence of Otiende Amollo means Orengo may have natured someone who will be handling, major political cases in courts.
“Otiende could be the next big thing in legal cycles. His articulation was fantastic and that could be a major milestone,” says Moseti Moseti.
“You need someone to defend political interests for free and Otiende could probably fit Orengo’s shoes,” he adds.
Although Otiende is not new in corridors of justice having served as Ombudsman, his election as Rarieda MP could be the onset of his long journey in political field.
