Former National Soccer Team (Harambee Stars) goalkeeper Arnold Otieno Origi is now appealing for peace and calm in the aftermath of the repeat presidential election.

The Kenyan born keeper who plies his trade with Norwegian club Lillestrom says Kenya has come a long way, while insisting on the need for Kenyans to have a peaceful co-existence.

In a facebook post over the weekend, the shot-stopper said he has nothing further than pray for his motherland.

“No Man likes to see his mother crying or suffering. Well Mine is. My Motherland is. I try acting ignorant, not because I don't care or don't know what's happening, but because it pains me seeing her like this,” reads part of the post.

“Sir (God) I can do nothing other than humbly pray to you. Help her. She's come along way,” he posted.

Violence erupted in some National Super Alliance (NASA) strongholds during and after repeat presidential elections last week, as members of the public prevented voting in areas such as Kisumu, Homabay, Siaya and Migori.

Voting in those areas was suspended as NASA supporters engaged police in running battles to prevent voting, following NASA leader Raila Odinga’s withdrawal from the polls.
