Each of the seven sub counties will receive Sh10 million to cater for the education of the needy in the lakeside county.

Governor Jack Ranguma said education is the pillar towards development noting that the Luo community has progressed due to high skilled professionals in the region.

“It is through education that now you can find many doctors, engineer and professors in the community. We must aid the young people through education to help the society in future,” he said.

Mr Ranguma said the county government has already given out Sh30 million towards the scholarship of 250 students in the county.

Already, Muhoroni and Kisumu Central have benefited from the Sh10 million each for the bursary allocation he said.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Monday, Ranguma clarified that the scholarship was only targeting total orphans who are bright.

He said the scholarship included school fees and other necessities like uniforms required in school.

Ranguma further announced that the people of Kisumu will start seeing the benefits of the developments he initiated when he took over office.

He said most of the hotels he laid foundation when elected in office have been completed and are operational.

“Many hotels have come up in Kisumu and the story of few beds in Kisumu is now a thing of the past. I have created a conducive environment for investors,” he said.
