Orphans and children from poor families in Bogichora ward in Nyamira county have protested over the removal of their names from the names of the people who receive Kshs. 2000 every month from the national government programme on claims that they have reached the age of 18 years of age.
The area member of county assembly Beutta Omanga who was speaking on behalf of the children said that most of the children who were removed had not reached the age limit.
“When you look at most of their documentations, most of these children have not reached 18 years of age as required. We even have children from the age of 4 years old to 10 years old,” Omanga said.
The ward representative also called on the government to solve the matter.
The Nyamira county children officer Samuel Masese has however refuted the claims saying that his office has not removed anyone from the register and asked the public that if they have any queries they should visit his office.
