A Kenyan film shot on location in Mandera was among films nominated for the Oscars.Titled ''Watu Wote'', the film was nominated in the live action category.The film relives the dark memories of the West Gate Male attack that shocked the conscience of not just Kenyans but the world.Three German students who had a stay in Mandera helped come up with the plot of the film.It seeks to deal a blow the stereotype that terrorism is exclusively about religion but twisted elements.It shines a spotlight on the issue of terrorism and adds a new layer to understanding what drives terrorism and perhaps offers clues to policymakers on how to deal with the problem.
