Kisii County MP Mary Otara has said Sh 19 million from the affirmative fund is to be spent in funding youth and women groups in the devolved unit.
The money, she said , will help them start small businesses to improve their lives.
"We especially urge for proper use of this money so that the funds can be seen to be realising its fundamental objectives," said Otara.
The MP was speaking on Monday at a Kisii hotel when she handed a a check of Sh 200, 000 to members of the Kisii Matatu Welfare.
The legislator advised commercial sex workers to desist from the practice and form groups so as to take advantage of the affirmative funds as well and aid them start ventures.
"This money is for them too and it takes little effort to join groups and applying for the money," the Women Rep said.
Otara urged for accountability in the use of the funds and warned of stern action against those likely to misappropriate it.
" There are conditions and one of them is to ensure these groups utilise the money well and return it so that other groups can access it as well," she said.
