According to Kisii county women representative, Mary Otara, there are many elective positions for women in 2017 than the women rep seat.

Addressing women at Kitutu Chache South on Tuesday when she was giving out Affirmative Action Fund cheques to various groups, she challenged them to go for more elective seats.

“There are more elective posts which need women more than the women rep seat, I challenge my fellow women to go for more elective seats like County representative seats or Member of National assembly,"she said.

Otara said that women need to go for more seats so that they can get their 2/3 gender rule without focusing on the seat.

“Many women have started focusing on women representative forgetting that they also have the right to other elective positions, let us focus on other seats so that we can also gain like other counties,” said Otara.

Otara added that in other regions women have been elected to other posts unlike in Gusii County.
