Opposition coalition, National Super Alliance (NASA) lawyer Otiende Amollo has condemned the government for its continued detention of the alliance strategist Miguna Miguna.

In a tweet Tuesday, the Rarieda Member of Parliament also bashed the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led government for locking the advocate away from his family and lawyers.

He maintained that the state has assumed a despotic rule hence its defiance of a court order directing that Miguna be released.

''Abuse of power, bombed to seek non-existent arms in house, shuffled between several remote police stations, held incommunicado, detained despite orders for release for over 5 Days then driven 100km away from High Court which gave orders. Banana Republic,'' Amollo wrote.

Miguna is being held over allegations of taking part in an illegal inauguration, after he and Siaya Senator James Orengo oversaw and signed purported oath documents during opposition leader Raila Odinga's January 30 swearing-in event in Uhuru Park Nairobi.

He was arrested in his house 4 days ago and has since been held in Githunguri and Lari police stations.

The arrest has sparked a heated debate in the country with leaders and supporters of the opposition demanding his immediate release.

Miguna, on Tuesday, appeared in a Kajiado court but refused to take plea demanding that he be arraigned before Nairobi High Court judge Judge Luka Kimaru.
