Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo has revealed the person who is most threatened by the recent pact between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Tuesday during NTV’s AM Live show, Amollo said Deputy President William Ruto is the most threatened politician by the deal between the two political rivals.
He argued that Ruto acted swiftly in praising Raila and Uhuru rather than condemning the move because he had released the threat the historic handshake posed on his political ambitions.
“The person most threatened by the fact that Uhuru and Raila met on their own is not even the three NASA principals, it must be the Deputy President,” said Amollo.
The NASA lawyer further noted that Ruto embarked on various trips across the country following the pact in a bid to endear himself to the people and minimise the threat it would have on his 2022 presidential ambition.
“You must ask yourself why Ruto was quick to embrace that meeting then he hit the ground running. He realises the threat of that meeting but rather than sit down and complain about it, he has decided to see if he can out-maneuver whatever result that would come out of it,” said Amollo.
Ruto was among the first leaders to congratulate Raila and Uhuru following their meeting at Harambee House on March 9, 2018, terming the duo as statesmen.
“Congratulations PRES. UHURU & RAILA for being statesmen. You have risen to the moment for Kenya and against hate, negative ethnicity and division. The unity, stability, and transformation of Kenya supersede all other partisan interests. Wangwana mubarikiwe mpaka mshangae,” said Ruto in a tweet.
