Senior lawyer and Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo does not trust the competence of State agencies investigating the Sh9 billion lose at the National Youth Service.
Amollo on Thursday said perpetrators of the scandal will go free as the State has not shown any interest in prosecuting the looters of the money.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is currently probing circumstances under which the taxpayer lost the money, the second loot after another lose that cost Kenyans Sh791 million when current Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru was Devolution Cabinet Secretary.
"The National Youth Servicve Saga. I sense something amiss!" the lawyer allied to the opposition ODM party said in a tweet.
"If it is corruption, why would DCI investigate to the exclusion of Erthics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and talk of prosecution 36 hours usurping the Director of Public Prosecution’s role? Are we fighting corruption or cleaning the way for corruption? Just wondering."
The MP made the remark hours after it emerged that a one Ann Wambere Wanjiku Ngirita was paid a whooping Sh60 million for supplying nothing to the NYS. The money is part of the cash that was lost in the multi-billion scam.
Wanjiru also never tendered to supply anything to the NYS.
