Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo has revealed what worries him about the pact between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Wednesday during Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange Live show, Amollo said if the deal between the two leaders turns out to be anything other than genuine, it will plunge the country back into a political crisis.
The NASA lawyer said it is paramount for Raila and Uhuru to approach the deal with absolute honesty, considering the delicate situation the country is in following the divisive August 8 elections.
“It is extremely important that the two gentlemen and the institutional arrangements they put around this approach the deal with absolute good faith and honesty,” said Amollo.
He said the duo must address the issues of electoral improprieties, ethnic tension, and inclusivity, among other issues that are currently ailing the country.
The vocal MP, however, hailed the landmark agreement that was reached on Friday last week at Harambee House, terming the move as statesmanly.
“It is very statesmanly for the two of them to come together and say let us come together and try to deal with the very fundamental issues and avoid the temporary divisive issues,” he said.
Amollo said the handshake between Raila and Uhuru signified that the two had chosen to embark on a path to finding a solution to the issues being experienced in the country.
