Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo has warned against cons using his name to solicit money from innocent Kenyans.
Otiende said the social media gangsters are using his name and fake initiatives by SMS and social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp to obtain money from citizens who happen to fall into the traps unknowingly.
He said he had reported the matter to the police and defended himself saying that he is not on Facebook and so no Kenyan should be lured to give out money to pay for fake services.
"I've learnt that some cons are soliciting money in my name for this and other fake initiatives by sms, facebook and whatsapp. I’ve reported these to Police, but wish to warn against falling for these cons. I’m not on Facebook either. If in doubt, please direct a message to me," he wrote.
Embattled Embakasi East MP Babu Owino had also warned against a similar matter when cons were collecting money from his constituents claiming they are his agents.
The government should take an initiative to crack down such people tainting the images of politicians especially those with huge flowing for monetary gains
