In a tweet, the vocal MP divulged that he had been diagnosed of malaria which had started spreading to other body parts.

"Didn’t know Malaria can be so dangerous! Developed Malaria which the Doctors say was starting to affect the brain! Fortunately all under control now!" he posted on his Twitter handle.

This is the first message Otiende has posted since being admitted in hospital yesterday.

Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader James Orengo also divulged that the first term ODM MP is improving, remarks which were backed by his wife Linet Amollo.

"He had suffered from exhaustion and doctors have restored him. His health has substantially improved," said Orengo.

"We are hopeful that he will be discharged soonest. We are informed that he has been having a tedious programme for the last two weeks," he added.

On Saturday, Otiende collapsed during an event at Alego-Usonga and was quickly rushed to Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu.

The first term MP was attending funeral to the son of former MP Oloo Aringo, who died last week.
