President Uhuru Kenyatta has expressed his gratitude to the police for being firm during the electioneering period.
The gratitude was contained in a message to the police from the commander-in-chief, through the IG and read by the director of police operations at the Kenya police headquarters Benson Kibui.
Rarieda MP, Otiende Amollo has termed the commendation as confirmation that the responsibility for the deaths allegedly occasioned by police brutality lies with the president himself.
The celebrated lawyer expressed his sad sentiments on Twitter today.
''Clear confirmation that ULTIMATE RESPONSIBILITY for the deaths, injuries & damages occasioned by our Rogue Policemen lies at the feet of their COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF Uhuru Kenyatta. Sad.'' He tweeted.
Otiende's sentiments are likely to resonate deeply with human rights groups that have accused Kenya's law enforcement agencies of high-handedness and unacceptable brutality.
Kenya's police have in the spotlight lately for brutally suppressing opposition protest rallies, leading, in some cases, to deaths.
