Renowned lawyer and Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo has made jarring remarks about the law-making organ of the country.
According to him, parliament has been captured to the extent that it cannot dispense its constitutional duties independently.
''Parliament is captured. It is not independent to the extent that we have a headline that asks whether parliament is ready to fight for its freedom yet that freedom is constitutionally guaranteed,'' the Rarieda MP said.
The Member of Parliament was speaking today in a panel discussion on an early morning television programme.
He warned that unless Parliament reclaims its independence, the country would slide further into the abyss.
His comments chime with that of the opposition regarding parliament.
