Lawyer Otiende Amollo has termed Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as clueless on matters law adding that demonstrations are legalized by the contributions.
At the eve of increasing anti – IEBC protests, Matiang’i banned demos with Central Business Districts on Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa.
But Otiende insists NASA demonstrations are legal, arguing that it’s the responsibility of the police to ensure demonstrators are given ample security.
“The minister is either empty or ignorant on the law. NASA has all the rights to demonstrate as long as police are notified. You do not need a feedback from the police.
“It is the prerogative of the police to ensure demonstrators are protected. He should not just confine himself to Public Order Act,” he said, insisting Friday’s demos will go as planned.
A tough talking Matiang’i had also indicated that the government will arrest NASA Chief Executive Norman Magaya for ‘failing’ to control demonstrators last week in CBD, a move Otiende terms us misleading.
“It was not the duty of Magaya to ensure property is not destroyed. Police should at all-time offer enough security.”
