Former Amani National Congress Secretary General and nominated lawmaker Godfrey Otsotsi has called for calm amid a brewing row between the party and the bigger NASA alliance.
Speaking in a press conference at the parliament buildings, moments after a section of leaders allied to the Musalia Mudavadi-led party threatened to pull out of NASA in protest of inconsideration in the alliance's house leadership list Thursday,Otsotsi urged the leaders to let the issue be sorted by the alliance's top leadership.
''I am aware that the principals will be meeting to deliberate on this issue and would like to ask the aggrieved leaders to wait for their conclusion before we can decide on the way forward,'' he said.
This followed an earlier presser where the ANC fraternity led by Lugari lawmaker Ayub Savula and his Butere counterpart Tindi Mwale had warned of unspecified consequences should the party not be given the deputy minority leader spot.
''We were expecting to be given the Deputy Minority post and we demand that it be given to us failure to which we will act,'' said Mwale.
The post, according to a list presented to National Assembly speaker Justin Muturi, has been given to Wiper's Robert Mbui.
Mudavadi and his co-principals are yet to comment on the issue which is threatening the alliance's unity.
