Ojaamong (L) and Otuoma when the two met at ATC Busia County tallying centre on Friday. facebook.com/Reuben OlitaDespite threats to seek legal redress against the re-election of Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong, immediate former Funyula MP Paul Otuoma has said he has nothing sinister against the county chief-elect.
He said he has shelved his earlier plan to challenge Ojaamong’s re-election in court and would thus work with his administration to transform Busia.
“We are together,” he told Ojaamong when the two exchanged pleasantries at the Busia Agricultural Training Centre which hosted the County tallying centre on Friday.
He said he will closely work with Ojaamong to ensure the county realises the development it needs.
Ojaamong on the other hand said it was a new dawn for Busia following his re-election.
He urged national leaders to ensure the country remains calm.
“In case of any disputes it should be solved amicably instead of fueling animosity among peace loving Kenyans,” the former Amagoro MP said.
Otuoma said he would respect the results of the election urging national leaders to follow suit and allow the law prevail instead of plunging the country into anarchy.
“We need to respect the law. Even if we are not satisfied let's follow the law instead of allowing our supporters to take to the streets. Kenya needs peace,” he said.
Ojaamong retained his gubernatorial seat after beating Otuoma by 135,153 votes against 125,905.
