The regional coordinator Omollo says they are ready to deal with any chaos during and after the primaries.

This comes amid confusion in ODM aspirants, following what some of them refer to as lack of clear communication from the Orange House over the exercise.

The governor’s seat in Busia will be the highlight of the primaries, with the incumbent Sospeter Ojaamong’ battling it out with Funyula legislator Paul Otuoma.

So tight is the race that the two have spent the last two weeks campaigning in the region and selling agenda to the residents in order to clinch the ODM ticket.

“Some might think we haven’t done a lot. Just like the president says, he has tried where he could, but still people are not appreciating,” said Ojaamong during a recent interview.

Otuoma on the other hand feels it is his time to finally clinch the seat, and promises to deliver on what his opponent has failed to do.

“We are waiting for the nomination, hoping that it will be free and fair,” said Otuoma.

Different leaders in the area calling for a peaceful exercise, with participating aspirants urging their supporters to remain calm even as the exercise is carried out.

However, not everything is in place for the exercise, with the ODM Busia branch office remaining closed for the better part of the week, a situation aspirants say could affect the smooth running of the exercise.

Police have also assured the residents of adequate security during the exercise.

This will be the first party primaries held by ODM as the clock ticks towards the August Elections.
