Funyula MP who is also Busia governor aspirant Paul Otuoma has hit out at his main rival Governor Sospeter Ojaamong, accusing him of failing in his mandate to the people of Busia.
Otuoma said the governor had delivered lower than the expectations the voters had vested in him during the 2013 elections.
Speaking in Bumala ‘B’ in Butula Sub-County on Tuesday, Otuoma said there was no difference between the devolved Busia and the way things were during the defunct county councils.
“In 2013 we unanimously voted for my friend Ojaamong with the hope that he was going to address the needs of the people of Busia.
“It pains us to see a person whom we helped ascend to power resorting to divisive politics on the backdrop of poor development record,” he said.
He insisted that he was rigged out in ODM party primaries conducted in April but remained hopeful that he will be the people's choice on August 8 when Busia residents elect their governor.
“The people of Busia have suffered for the last five years under Ojaamong’s regime," he said.
"We cannot compare our county with neighbours Kakamega, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia as we are still lagging behind in development,” Otuoma said.
