Sofapaka President Elly Kalekwa has said their major aim is to win the Kenya Premier League (KPL) title this year.
“If a team finishes second, the only other option you have is to win the title the following year. Everyone here wants the title. We have the thirst to win the league this year,” Kalekwa is quoted by the Club’s official portal sofapakafc.co.ke.
“We have strengthened weak areas that made us miss the title last season and I can say that we have the best squad in the league this season,” added the president.
The 2009 KPL Champions missed out on the title last year after finishing second behind eventual Champions Gor Mahia.
The Club’s leadership has strengthened the team by making high profile signings especially in the striking department.
Kepha Aswani and Stephen Waruru have joined Sofapaka from Nakumatt FC and Ulinzi Stars respectively. The two will join forces with last season’s sensation Ugandan Umaru Kasaumba to hunt for goals for the Batoto Ba Mungu.
The Club is also close to acquiring services of Zanzibar midfielder Abdul Aziz Makame, furthering the Club’s interest in winning the KPL title at the end of 2018.
Sofapaka will open 2018 KPL campaign against Bandari FC on February 04.
