Suspended County Assembly Speaker Ann Adul has threatened to sue the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission for defaming her.
Speaking at the Kisumu Law Courts after she was acquitted of corruption dealings in the award of tenders worth Sh17.4 million, Ms Adul said her character was tarnished and that her children were humiliated through the media because of the corruption charges she faced.
"EACC must do thorough investigations before heading to court. It is crucial that they gather substantive evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the offences was committed otherwise they will loose their credibility," she said.
Adul was taken to court by the EACC together with the husband Elijah Adul, two MCAs and a Clerk to the County Assembly for disregarding procurement laws while organising MCAs trips to Israel, Singapore and China for capacity building.
Two directors of Factor Connect, a company that organised three international trips for the Members of the County Assembly were also charged.
She reiterated that she is ready yo claim her seat as the Speaker of the Assembly now that the court has found her not guilty of the corruption charges.
"I stepped down to allow for speedy investigations on the mismanagement of funds but now I am ready to resume office and carry on with the projects that are still pending before the House as we gear towards the next general elections," she said.
