Hundreds of locals at Karuturi area in Naivasha risk contradicting waterborne diseases for consuming untreated water from Lake Naivasha.

John Kebaso, a resident said residents goes to fetch water at the lake after electricity was disconnected at the main borehole which supplies them with water.

"Water crisis hit the area after Kenya power disconnected electricity at the main borehole due to unpaid bills. We have been forced to go for water lake for domestic use purposes", he said.

Kebaso urged Nakuru county government to intervene since locals' lives are at danger.

"Governor Lee Kinyanjui should help us clear the electricity bill for us to continue getting clean water from the borehole failure to which diseases associated with dirty water will attack us", added Kebaso.
