Outgoing Nyamira County commissioner Josephine Onunga has yet again urged chiefs and sub-chiefs to continue with their operation against illicit liquor.
Speaking while addressing security agents at her farewell party in what used to be her official residence on Thursday, Onunga urged chiefs to ensure illicit brew is curbed to help foster education standards in the county.
“I am an outgoing commissioner who has been working with you for quite some time now, but my departure doesn’t mean that the fight against illicit liquor stops, which is why I am urging chiefs to ensure the brew is contained if we really need to improve our education standards," said Onunga.
Onunga further urged security agents to work closely with the new county commissioner John Rotich, who formerly of Siaya County in a bid to improve security.
“As a new face comes in above your command, I urge you all to ensure you work closely with the new county commissioner as a way of improving security in Nyamira people,” added Onunga.
She is expected to report on duty in Taita Taveta County come Monday next week.
