Mukung’ said members of the outlawed Gaza group have changed tactics by posing as land brokers in Mlolongo and its environs.
He said several members of the gang had moved from parts of Nairobi especially Kayole and Embakasi areas and had settled in Mlolongo town.
“Police have seriously cracked down the group, incidences of armed robberies have gone down in Mlolongo area after three members of the gang were gunned down by security agencies in December,” said Mukung’.
Mukung’ said the thugs were involved in armed robberies and burglaries in Mlolongo before resorting to land grabbing.
He said they targeted gas cylinders, electronics and Mpesa shops but apparently security had improved.
Mukung spoke to this writer at his office in Mlolongo town on Friday.
He said the thugs had reportedly settled at Mlolongo Phase three Estate near the dumping site while others were suspected to had moved to Kinanie area.
The administrator said the thugs were sub diving people’s parcels of land and selling them out to unsuspecting buyers.
“Issues of insecurity have gone down, we are apparently faced with increased land grabbing as emerging issues in Mlolongo Division,” said Mukung’.
He lauded the Mlolongo Police for being effective in cracking down criminals.
“We have achieved this due to good relationship among all security stakeholders including the Nyumba Kumi members, our police respond swiftly to any security alerts,” said Mukung’,
Mukung said Mlolongo Police officers conduct effective investigations hence do not make arrests unnecessarily, “Only criminals are narrowed down at and arrested.”
He said the National Social Security Fund’s land was among those invaded by members of the gang group.
Mukung’ expressed confidence that the government will deal with the criminals to ensure sanity in the area.
“Land grabbing in Mlolongo is on the rise, we will ensure only genuine owners retain parcels of the land,” said Mukung’.
He cautioned members of the public against engaging in land deals with unscrupulous brokers who own nothing as ownership documents for the lands they sell.
Mukung’ said all criminals will be eliminated from Mlolongo and its neighborhoods.
