There is an outrage in Kibera following the alleged knocking down and killing of a young man by a matatu that plies the Nairobi-Rongai route.
Residents are demanding that authorities get responsible and dispense justice, with a section now vowing to ensure the matatus do not go through the area until the matter has been concluded.
The blood of a Kiberian is on the wheel of this Rongai matatu. It is so unfortunate to be reported that a young man, still ambitious and hustling to make his life better was pushed and knocked down by this matatu. The incidence is reported to have happened at Soweto High-rise where the conductor of the below Rongai matatu pushed the young man by the name Atetah from the matatu for the reasons well known to him and he latter succumbed to death," posted Moses Omondi, a resident.
"The matatu was taken to a police station for investigations but to the surprise of many and the family of the deceased, it was released on unclear circumstances. The family and friends are out seeking justice for ATETA. Any leads will be appreciated. Meanwhile RONGAI MATATU hold your horses from Kibra short cut until justice is served. Justice is a process that requires patience, witness and sober judgement," he added.
Another resident, Bonaya Brownface said that police could not be trusted on the matter after allegedly taking a bribe from the sacco.
"Damu ya brathee imemwangika mabigi wa traffic wamelabishwa doo gari iko routie inachiba wrks boy amelala mocha," he said, which loosely translates as:
"Our brother's blood was spilled yet traffic officers were given a bribe and now the vehicle is on the route doing work while our friend is lying in the mortuary."
"Who gonna listen to us makarao mtaa wanatusumbua makofi na risasi unakula .mimi kama boy hii stori imeniuma ille baya" Bonaya Brownface added.
Another resident Sally Njoroge said: "The government can fail us, but there is God in heaven.God of Justice shall surely do justice for this young man.Snowball Sacco, you can enjoy while it lasts."
"Whoever did this will forever bear the repercussions and to the so-called policemen, may they never find peace," said another resident Nelly Ameso.
