From painting their bodies with the colours of their “party”, hanging oranges on their bodies, to carrying carton razor blades cut-outs.
Others, however, do irrational things, some to the extent of taking their own lives when their political idol loses in the election. Here is a compiled list of some of the extreme things some Kenyans have done because and /or for politicians.
A man, clad in Jubilee’s reflector jacket, was on Wednesday last week spotted in Nairobi streets with a placard in which he offered to sell one of his kidneys to raise campaign funds for President Uhuru’s re-election.
Earlier on, an elderly man from Meru County wanted to sell all his property to raise funds for Uhuru’s presidential campaigns. The president however, invited him to State House and dissuaded him from doing so.
51-year-old David Mugambi from Leshau in Nyandarua County, committed suicide after his preferred gubernatorial candidate, former Laikipia governor, Joshua Irungu, lost to Ndiritu Muriithi. A man from Nyanza also hanged himself after Raila lost in the 2013 general elections. The man’s body was found dangling from a tree clad in an ODM campaign t-shirt.
A woman from Nyanza deserted her marital home after Raila lost in the 2007 general elections.
In a video that went viral on social media, the unidentified man revealed that his wife left him after Raila lost in the 2007 elections but promised to go back to him if Raila won in last month’s general elections.
From the look of things, the man could still be single and praying hard that Raila may win in next month’s presidential elections re-run that he may be reunited with his family
