In a press conference within parliament buildings on Wednesday, the team led by Tongaren Member of Parliament Eseli Simiyu and his Lugari counterpart Ayub Savula also rubbished claims of political division within the Luhya community.

Simiyu accused the unnamed individuals, within the opposition, of propagating the rumor for the personal gains, specifically political mileage.

"Luhya leaders have never been divided and the community too has always been united. These are just rumours being propagated by some outsiders for personal gains," he said.

"We have been made to look divided by outside forces who have gone ahead to benefit from the rhetoric by achieving political milestones,  including acquiring political positions," said Simiyu.

The leaders maintained that they have since embarked on a reinforcement mission, vowing to all rally behind opposition co-leaders Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula.

"From now on we will be united more than ever under the leadership of our leaders. Never again will we be misused," he added.

Mudavadi and Wetangula have since pledged readiness to spearhead the community's political operations ahead of the 2022 general elections.
