Over 145 out of 1148 registered candidates for 2016 KCSE in Dadaab refugee camp missed the examinations due to the ongoing repatriation.
According to Windle Trust Kenya, an organization that manages secondary and Tertiary education in the refugee camp, 80 of their candidates have missed the exam.
Seven Secondary Schools in the Camp, that is Hagadera , Waberi, Ifo , Towfiq , Nasib, Tawakal and Dagahaley secondary Schools registered a total of 1,148, but only 1,003 showed up for the KCSE examinations.
According to a recent report by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee, more than 20,000 refugees have voluntary returned back to Somalia and students who have not sat for their exams might have gone back with their family members to Somalia or moved to another Refugee camp.
The repatriation of Refugees that started in July 2016 was caused by what the Government termed as the Refugee Camp being a harbor for Al-Shabaab militia citing the Garissa attack that killed over 148 Kenyans where it is believed was planned in the Camp.
